About Niyoka
Niyoka, the daughter of Curtis and Lelia Dixon of Savannah, is a creative writing guru whose education is quite extensive and impressive. She is a graduate of Savannah High School and Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, and received her Master of Arts in Teaching from Mercer University, Atlanta, Georgia in 2007. She has a Master’s and Specialist degree in Reading and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education.
Mrs. McCoy has been influenced extensively by her family. Her husband, Chad, truly understands her calling and has been an influential partner in her literary journey. Niyoka’s mother has been a driving force who constantly encourages her by praying with her and keeping her grounded spiritually. The author’s father is a true advocate for children and his life experience has exposed the author to children with a host of issues and differences. Finally, Mrs. McCoy draws from her life experiences with her sisters who offer her constant support, humorous memories, and endless love.

A young, dynamic, positive children's author, the author writes about tough subjects because she can empathize and feel compassion for people with challenges. Mrs. McCoy has a great passion and love for children and teaching and feels that children are more likely to read when they can relate directly to the characters in the story.
Niyoka, an English teacher by profession, has a passion for bringing stories to life in a way that will encourage and educate her students. She understands that children must sometimes deal with difficult issues that may impair their physical and mental capacity.
Niyoka plans to continue to uplift the hopes and spirits of children through her writing.
